La Embajada de Panamá en Australia, junto con el Consejo de Negocios Australia-LatinoAmericano (ALABC), La Agencia de Promoción de las Inversiones y Exportaciones (ProPanamá) y la Asociación de Exportadores de Panamá (APEX), celebraron un seminario virtual sobre las relaciones comerciales entre Australia y Panamá, titulado Panamá, el Centro de Comercio Internacional de las Américas. El webinar fue un gran éxito, con más de 200 participantes registrados de Australia, Nueva Zelanda, Panamá, Europa y otros.
El webinar fue moderado por Marcelo Salas, Director General de ALABC, y contó con una serie de ilustres oradores, entre ellos el primer Embajador residente de Panamá en Australia, Su Excelencia Marcelino Avilés; Tristán Pascall, Director de Estrategia de First Quantum Minerals; Carmen Gisela Vergara, Directora Ejecutiva de ProPanama; Roberto Tribaldos, Presidente de la Junta Directiva de APEX, la Asociación Panameña de Exportación; Chris Bertrand, Presidente de América Latina para Cochlear, y el Embajador de Australia en Mexico, Su Excelencia Remo Moretta.
Entre los temas hablados figuraron los beneficios del comercio con Panamá, tal como los encontró First Quantum Minerals y Cochlear, los incentivos fiscales y laborales para las empresas, la zona de libre comercio de Colón, el Canal de Panamá, el éxito de los emprendimientos comerciales como el comercio del café, y la forma de instigar las relaciones comerciales entre los dos países para nuevos emprendimientos comerciales.

The Embassy of Panama in Australia, together with the Australian-Latin American Business Council (ALABC), the Agency of the Promotion of Investments and Exports (ProPanamá) and the Association of Panamanian Exporters (APEX), held a webinar on trade relations between Australia and Panama, entitled Panama, the International Trade Hub of the Americas. The Webinar was moderated by Marcelo Salas, the CEO of ALABC, and offered a series of illustrious speakers, including the first resident Ambassador of Panama to Australia, His Excellency Marcelino Aviles; Tristan Pascall, Director of Strategy at First Quantum Minerals; Carmen Gisela Vergara, Executive Director of ProPanama; Roberto Tribaldos, President of the Board of APEX, the Panamanian Export Association; Chris Bertrand, President of Latin America for Cochlear, and the Ambassador of Australia to Mexico, His Excellency Remo Moretta.
Topics discussed included the benefits of doing trade with Panama as found by First Quantum Minerals and Cochlear, business tax and worker incentives, the Colon Free Trade zone, the Panama Canal, success in business ventures such as Coffee trade, and how to instigate trade relations between the two countries for new business ventures.
