The first resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Panama to the Commonwealth of Australia, Marcelino Avil\u00e9s Valdespino, a career diplomat and consular officer, presented the Letters of Credence, which accredit him in the high office, to Governor General the Honorable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK CVO MC (Retd).<\/p>\n
The ceremony took place at the official residence of the Governor General in Canberra, where the anthems of Panama and Australia were sung and the Panamanian Ambassador was honored.<\/p>\n
During the protocol audience, Ambassador Aviles conveyed to the Governor of Australia, the interest of the Government of the Republic of Panama to increase and expand relations with that country within the framework of the Hawk Policy to strengthen ties with Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Oceania.<\/p>\n
The Governor General of Australia, expressed his satisfaction for the opening of the first diplomatic mission of Panama that will contribute to strengthen the bilateral relations in the political, economic, cultural and social fields between the two countries and wished success to Ambassador Aviles in his diplomatic management.<\/p>\n
The work plan of the Embassy of Panama in Australia includes the promotion of reciprocal investments and tourism, from the logistical platform that Panama offers for Latin America and in terms of cooperation to promote the programs of Student Mobility, Volunteering and Panama Bilingual.<\/p>\n
