Encuentro con el Rector de la Universidad Especializada de las Américas-UDELAS, Panamá
El Doctor Juan Bosco Bernal, máxima autoridad de la Universidad Especializada de las Américas-UDELAS, junto a su equipo realizaron una visita de cortesía virtual al Embajador Marcelino Avilés. El rector Bernal, indicó que es importante crear sinergias entre la Misión Diplomática y el Centro educativo panameño con el objetivo de buscar alianzas en Oceanía para fortalecer la investigación; realizar foros educativos virtuales, intercambios y aprovechar los fondos de cooperación no reembolsables disponibles.
En el encuentro participaron también, Doris Hernández, Vicerrectora, quién manifestó su interés en realizar intercambios con universidades australianas. Luis Torres, Director de Cooperación Internacional presentó un análisis de la región y las posibilidad de desarrollar proyectos de triangulación. El profesor, Arturo Rivera, indicó su interés los campos virtuales educativos en ciencias de la salud y deportes. Mientras que el Profesor Jay Molino, ya ha identificado temas científicos para investigar que impactan en el cambio climático y enfermedades neurogenerativas en universidades en este región.
El Embajador Avilés por su parte explicó que por medio UDELAS se puede incentivar a los australianos a estudiar el idioma español en Panamá, compartir buenas prácticas con pueblos nativos y desarrollar investigaciones conjuntas primero online y luego presencial en un futuro, para luego avanzar con Acuerdos que permitan la doble titulación. Por lo que organizará los esfuerzas de la Embajada para crear próximamente un webminar binacional para potenciar la educación.
La oferta académica de UDELAS está concentrada en areas como: Traducción e Interpretación en la Lengua de Señas; Educación Bilingüe Intercultural (Pueblos originarios), Deporte y Recreación; enfermería, urgencia médicas, entre otras. Además, cuenta con una clínica de salud deportiva y el Centro de atención a la diversidad ( Autismo y sicología clínica).

Meeting with the Chancellor of the Universidad Especializada de las Américas-UDELAS, Panama
Dr. Juan Bosco Bernal, the highest authority of the Universidad Especializada de las Américas-UDELAS, together with his team, held a virtual courtesy visit to Ambassador Marcelino Avilés. Chancellor Bernal indicated that it is important to create synergies between the Diplomatic Mission and the Panamanian educational center with the objective of seeking alliances in Oceania to strengthen research, carry out virtual educational forums, exchanges and take advantage of the non-reimbursable cooperation funds available.
The meeting was also attended by Doris Hernández, Vice Chancellor, who expressed her interest in exchanges with Australian universities. Luis Torres, Director of International Cooperation, presented an analysis of the region and the possibility of developing triangular projects. Professor Arturo Rivera indicated his interest in the virtual educational fields of health sciences and sports. Professor Jay Molino has already identified scientific topics for research that impact climate change and neurogenerative diseases in universities in this region.
Ambassador Aviles explained that through UDELAS, Australians can be encouraged to study the Spanish language in Panama, share best practices with native peoples and develop joint research first online and then in person in the future, and then move forward with agreements that allow dual degrees. For this reason, he will organize the efforts of the Embassy to create a binational Webinar in the near future to promote education.
The academic offerings of UDELAS are concentrated in areas such as: Translation and Interpretation in Sign Language; Intercultural Bilingual Education (Indigenous Peoples), Sports and Recreation; nursing, medical emergencies, among others. It also has a sports health clinic and the Center for Attention to Diversity (Autism and clinical psychology).
