On Friday the 27th of November, the Embassy of Panama in Australia, in celebrating the Month of the Homeland, enlightened the National Carillon in Canberra with the colours of the Panamanian flag. Panama is the first Latin American country to do this. The evening consisted of a small ceremony, which can be seen on our Facebook, with many VIPs and dignitaries in attendance.
The Carillon was a gift given by Her Majesty Isabel II, on the 50th anniversary of the City of Canberra in 1970. It is situated in Lake Burley Griffin, an icon of Canberra.
The colours illuminating the Carillon were that of the Panama Flag, which mean the following;
The colour Blue: represents the Conservative Party;
The colour Red: represents the Liberal Party;
The colour White: represents the peace that created the new nation
The blue star: symbolizes the purity and honesty that reigns in civic life
The red star: symbolizes the authority and the law that imposes the rules of these virtues.

El viernes 27 de noviembre, la Embajada de Panamá en Australia, al celebrar el Mes de la Patria, iluminó el Carillón Nacional de Canberra con los colores de la bandera panameña. Panamá es el primer país latinoamericano en hacerlo. La velada consistió en una pequeña ceremonia, que se puede ver en nuestro Facebook, con la asistencia de muchos VIPs y dignatarios.
El carillón fue un regalo de Su Majestad Isabel II, en el 50 aniversario de la ciudad de Canberra en 1970. Está situado en el Lago Burley Griffin, un icono de Canberra.
Los colores que iluminaban el Carillón eran los de la bandera de Panamá, que significan lo siguiente;
El color Azul: representa el Partido Conservador;
El color Rojo: representa el Partido Liberal;
El color Blanco: representa el campo de la paz, para hacer patria en la nueva Nación.
La estrella azul: simboliza la pureza y la honestidad que habrán de normar la vida cívica de la patria.
La estrella roja: simboliza la autoridad y la ley que habrán de imponer el imperio de estas virtudes.
